Rotary awards grants, plans for 2024 auction

The Rotary Club of Jefferson awarded more than $16,000 from its annual auction to not-for-profit projects and entities that serve Greene County. Proceeds from the auction have been distributed since 1999 with more than $600,000 going to non-profits, schools, youth, community projects of all sizes and other initiatives.

In addition, the club also awards $8,000 in scholarships to Greene County High School seniors and contributes to Rotary International’s humanitarian efforts.

Recent recipients attended Rotary Club meetings and explained their projects to club members and the impact they would make. Grants awarded will benefit communities throughout Greene County. 

Midwest Missions, represented by Danille Curtis (center) received $4,400 for a trailer to haul equipment to meal packing sites.
The Jefferson Matters Tower View Team was awarded $4,635 for Imagination Alley planters.  Deb McGinn (center) received the award.
Our Community Health Foundation received $3,000 for books distributed by the Dolly Parton Imagination Library to Greene County children.    Cindy Duhrkopf (center) accepted the award.
The Webb House youth center was awarded $1,836 for a pin pong table, chairs, window shades and paint. Jim North and Isaac ‘Junior’ Sanabria (center) received the award.
The 144-Corridor Housing Initiative was awarded $2,500 for exterior rehab of homes on Highway 144 up to $1,000 per project with a 50-50 match from homeowners.  Mary Weaver of Rippey and Derek Kennedy of Grand Junction (center) received the award.

The 26th annual event will be held Friday, Nov. 15, 2024, at the Wild Rose Casino Greene Room.  Tickets for the dinner, auction and social time will be available at www.jeffersonrotary.com or from Rotarians. There will be online bidding available at 32auctions.com/JeffersonRotary2024 from Nov. 9-15.
