50107 Summerfest will be held Friday and Saturday, Aug. 2-3, in Grand Junction. Most activities will be held on the former school lot unless noted.
Festivities start Friday at 4 pm with the opening of the beer tent. Gotcha Games Carnival, food vendors (Borrachos and Kona Ice), Greene County Cattlemen and yard games will start at 5 pm. The carnival is the same group that was at the Bell Tower Festival. Burnin’ Sensations will play from 7-11 pm.
Saturday is full of many events. Registration for the 5K will open at 8:30 am at Fouch Agri-Service with the race to start at 9 am. The used book sale begins at 9 am at the library, along with a petting zoo with cow pie bingo. At 10 am the Horizon group is having brunch at the Community Center – $5 for eggless breakfast casserole, cinnamon rolls, fresh fruit, water, juice and coffee.
The parade will start at 11 am at 15th and Bennett and head west on Hager St. Food vendors (Borrachos, Kona Ice and Weiner Wonderland), face painting and the car show all start at 11 am. At noon, the carnival will open, as will a vendor show and Lucky Wife Wine Slushies. An ice cream social and bingo begins at 1 pm at the Presbyterian Church.
Yard games, the bags tournament and music by Brian Congdon will kick off at 3 pm. The Greene County Pork Producers will serve food starting at 5 pm. Ted Stockton will provide music starting at 7 pm, and the final entertainment will start at 9 pm with Casey Muessigmann.
Organizers hope to see everyone at the 50107 Summerfest in Grand Junction the first weekend in August.
