The Scranton city council heard updates on public works and the Community Center during its June 11 regular meeting.
Dawn Rudolph reported May was a busy month at the Community Center with numerous graduation parties. Pickleball has been a big success and games will continue all year round. The Breakcycle group plans to stop in Scranton again during their ride from West Des Moines to Okoboji. The generator project is ongoing, pausing to perform some work on the brick on the building. More electrical outlets have been installed.
Chad Kirk advised the monthly reports are completed and everything is running smoothly. City employees have been busy mowing. A bid from Muir Tree Service to remove dead / dying trees was accepted. Thanks to increased rainfall, problems with some storm drains have been identified and repaired. New trash cans have been installed at all the parks with another planned near the post office boxes. More playground equipment will be installed with the assistance of Dave Wolf.
In other business, the council approved updating the seat belt policy and mosquito spraying. The council also approved joining the Greene County Development Corporation. ~courtesy of The Scranton Journal
