Last week, the Rams hosted South Hamilton June 10, taking a 7-5 win over the Hawks. Of the 11 Ram hits, four were doubles, with the big hits coming off the bats of Sara Morlan, Bellah Johnson, Alaina Heard and Alivya Smith, all freshman ball players. Back on the home diamond on Wednesday, the Rams hosted Roland-Story, falling 10-3 to the Norsemen. The Norsemen broke it open in the third, scoring four runs and holding the Rams scoreless, with the rest of the game played in a similar fashion.
Smith smacked a triple and a double in the game, the only Ram with two hits on the night. Payton Kokenge found strong contact for her one hit, adding a double to her stat line. The team saw five walks, with Heard accounting for two. Three Rams struck out.
Heard faced 32 batters, with four each of walks, hit batters and strikeouts. Seven hits came from the Norsemen. The team behind her saw 21 putouts and six errors on 39 total chances.
Friday’s game took Greene County to Ogden, facing a 13-3 loss. The Bulldogs came out of the gate swinging, holding the Rams scoreless in their half of the first inning, then scoring 11 runs. Greene County held the Bulldogs to one run in the third and one in the fourth, themselves scoring two in the third and one in the fifth, but were unable to rally from the Bulldogs’ big first inning.
The three Ram hits all registered as singles, with Kokenge, Morlan and Violet Reedy credited with the smacks. Smith was walked twice, with Johnson and Daniele Madsen each walked once. Kokenge reached on error once, and four Rams struck out. There were 12 putouts by Greene County on 22 total chances, with five errors committed by the team.
