Last week, the Rams went 1-3 ahead of a big week coming up, including a face-off with 14th ranked PCM on June 7.
Next week, the Rams will host South Hamilton on Monday, June 10, and Roland-Story on Wednesday with a road trip to Ogden on Friday.
The Rams fell 6-3 to Grand View Christian on May 28 after trailing throughout the night. The Thunder were the first on the scoreboard, getting two runs in the first quarter. Neither team scored in the second, but both managed to send two across home plate in the third inning. Grand View put two more on the board, topping Greene County’s one run of the inning. The rest of the game remained scoreless, with the Thunder taking the 6-3 win.
Greene County saw 12 hits in the game, all singles aside from Sara Morlan’s home run. Makenna Ebersole walked, with Alaina Heard, Addison Gannon and Bellah Johnson reaching on errors. On the field, the Rams had 21 putouts and four errors on 34 total chances. Heard was on the mound, throwing 143 pitches for 10 hits, four walks, one hit batter and seven strikeouts.
On June 29, the Rams hosted Nevada with Greene County falling 13-3 after the 10-run rule came into effect in the fifth inning, despite a two run rally in the bottom of the fifth by Greene County.
Ebersole had the sole Ram double of the night, accompanying the six singles hit by the team. Heard, Morlan and Violet Reedy all reached on errors, with just two Rams striking out at the plate. The Rams had six assists and 15 putouts, seven from catcher Ebersole and five from first baseman Alivya Smith. The Rams had five errors on the field. Heard threw 104 pitches, with Johnson throwing two. The duo allowed 10 hits with four earned runs, four walks, two hit batters and six strikeouts.
Thursday’s game took the Rams to Glidden-Ralston High School where the Rams picked up the 16-12 win after holding the lead in the last four innings of the game. The Wildcats were the first on the scoreboard, putting up three after the Rams scored zero in the first inning. The game was going in G-R’s favor with a 4-2 score at the end of the third frame, but the Rams rallied and put three across home in the fourth and five in the fifth, allowing just three runs by the Wildcats in the two innings. The Rams held onto the lead to finish out the game.
There were 24 Ram hits in the game, with 19 singles, four doubles and one triple. Doubles were smacked by Payton Kokenge, Johnson, Smith and Reedy. Morlan was the triple hitter of the evening. There were 17 stolen bases from the Rams, and just six batters struck out.
On the field, the Rams saw 21 putouts and five errors on 31 total chances. Catcher Ebersole had seven putouts on seven chances and no errors in the game. Heard was on the mound, throwing 105 pitches to 33 batters, allowing 11 hits with seven earned runs, two walks, one sacrifice allowed and striking out six batters.
The Rams played at home on Friday, hosting 6-1 West Marshall and falling 7-3. Greene County kicked off with a promising lead, scoring two runs in the first inning and holding the Trojans scoreless until the fourth, when they plated three runners. The West Marshall score continued to climb while the Rams were unable to answer, until they scored one last run in the seventh inning.
Greene County launched six hits, including a double each from Morlan and Madsen. One batter walked and seven struck out. The Rams had 21 putouts on 29 total chances. Heard threw 92 pitches, allowing seven hits, one walk, four hit batters and striking two batters out.
