About 1,000 Barbie dolls are on display along E. Lincoln Way during June in Jefferson: More than 400 at the Greene County Historical Museum, 119 E. Lincoln Way, and another 500-plus at “Barbie by the Bells” in the Sensibly Chic storefront, 111 E. Lincoln Way.
The museum will host a “Barbie Open House” Saturday, June 15, from 9 am to noon.
Two vintage Barbies will be up for silent auction at the event.
There will also be a Barbie scavenger hunt, coloring sheets, word search games and a Barbie UNO card game. There will be drawings for gift cards, and a limited quantity of Barbie merchandise will be for sale. Refreshments (probably pink), will be served.
The two auction Barbies, donated by Jefferson resident Janet Meiners, are pink label collectibles, “Rose Splendor” and “Generations of Dreams.” Meiners began collecting Barbies 20 years ago. She donated the two collectibles to the museum “because it’s for a good cause,” she said.
During June, the museum is open Wednesdays from 1 to 4 pm and Saturdays and 9 am to noon. The “Barbie by the Bells” museum fundraiser in Jefferson’s Sensibly Chic storefront is open Thursdays and Sundays from 12 to 5 pm, and Fridays and Saturdays from 10 am to 5 pm. A $5 admission for “Barbie by the Bells” will go to the Historical Society to support the museum.
