Voter turnout was light in the June 4 primarily election in Greene County, with only one contested county race for the Republicans and one state race for the Democrats.
In the Republican primary, party members selected incumbent county supervisor (District 5) Pete Bardole over challenger Sue Bose. Bardole received 272 votes (58.75 percent) while Bose received 189 votes (40.82 percent). There were two write-in votes.
The other contested race for primary voters was for the Democratic U.S. House District 3 ballot position. Lanon Baccam carried Greene County with 113 votes (78.47 percent) while Melissa Vine received 31 votes (21.53 percent). Both candidates had met with the Greene County Democrat central committee early in their campaigns.
Shane Monthei is challenging sheriff Jack Williams in the Nov. 5 general election. As an Independent, Monthei’s name did not appear on a ballot.
Fewer than 10 percent of registered voters – 617 of 6,459 registered voters – cast ballots. Of those 468 were Republicans and 148 were Democrats. One person voted a Libertarian ballot.
