Summer reading program begins June 3 at GJ library

The Summer Reading Program at Grand Junction Public Library begins Monday, June 3, at 10 am at the library. This year’s program theme is “Read, Renew, Repeat.”

Along with a focus on reading skills and literacy, each week will feature a component of renewing. Topics will include the rain forest, pollination from bees, preserving our soil with cover crops, and the importance of recycling.

Along with activities, crafts, light snacks and story time, there will be a summer-long reading program with prizes to encourage children to read more.

Each session will be Monday from 10 to 11 am so children can head next door to enjoy lunch at the Grand Junction Community Center. The daily lunch program is from 11 am to 12:30 pm from June 3 to July 26. Children will also be given a grab-and-go breakfast for the following morning. The meals program is provided by Greene County Community Schools.
