The Greene County supervisors made short work of their regular meeting May 20.
There was only one item on the agenda. The board approved hiring Autumn Consier as a part-time dispatcher at a wage of $19/hour effective May 22. Her wage will increase to $20/hour after she earns certification.
During the open forum, Mike Holden asked the supervisors to consider having a sign posted warning of a blind intersection on County Road E-53 (old Lincoln Hwy) at F Ave east of Scranton. Board chair John Muir said he would speak to county engineer Wade Weiss about it.
The supervisors and county attorney Thomas Laehn clarified the time limit for public comments after Denny Hall asked for more information. Each person is limited to three minutes unless the board chair determines the topic is particularly complex or significant. The chair can allow speakers five minutes in that instance. A speaker cannot give a portion of their time to another speaker, and the total time for public comment cannot be longer than an hour without action by the board.
Supervisor Dawn Rudolph commended sheriff deputies, particularly Ashley Wilson, for stopping at the bus stop in Scranton to chat with students there. “I’m sure those things can make a difference in kids’ lives. They’re comfortable (with law enforcement) and it’s good,” Muir said.
