The Greene County Rams boys golf team closed out the regular season with a win.
First up the Ram boys finished out the regular season at home at the Jefferson Community Golf Course against Madrid and Grand View Christian where they took first place with a team score of 332. Grand View Christian was second with 377 and Madrid placed third with 408.
Scores: Jack Hansen, 78, first, Nathan Behne, 83, second, Broc Stream, 84, third, Carter Hinote, 87, fourth, Nathan Towers 89, sixth.
After their first meet that ended the regular season last week, they took part in sectionals at Whispering Woods Golf Course. Unfortunately for the Ram, they were unable to make the cut to move on. ADM and Atlantic grabbed the top spots with team scores of 303 and 313 respectively.
Results were: Jack Hansen, 75, Nathan Behne, 83; Carter Hinote, 83; Broc Stream, 88; Nathan Towers 92, and Landon Vote, 96.
This concludes the high school careers for four seniors: Nathan Behne, Dylan Cullum, Jack Hansen and Gavin Trecker. With six freshmen on the team this year, there will be plenty of names to step up next season.
“Team did really well throughout (the) whole season. Not the finish we wanted, but very few teams ever get that. I’m going to really miss the seniors, but I know they are going to be successful in the next chapter of their lives,” said coach Kyle Kinne. “Those players that we will have return next year learned a lot from them and I hope spread that knowledge to the younger ones coming up. Season was short, but will be memorable to me.”
The Greene County Rams girls golf team is scheduled to compete in their first round of the postseason this week on Wednesday at the Nishna Hills Golf Club as they will look to advance on.
