May is a special time in healthcare, a time for honoring nursing and support staff as well as all those individuals who work together to care for the communities. The celebrations start with National Nurses Week, from May 6 through May 12. This is followed by National Hospital Week from May 12 through May 18.
A wide variety of activities and events have been planned for both weeks to show gratitude to all Greene County Medical Center team members. The week will close with a Jefferson Matters Java and Juice Friday, May 17.
Greene County Medical Center will honoring the work of extraordinary nurses and their support staff. Everyone is invited to attend the Partner of Nursing and DAISY Award ceremonies, which will take place in the main lobby Thursday, May 9, at 1:30 pm.
“The Greene County Medical Center nursing team came together in 2020 with the idea of recognizing the support they receive from other team members throughout the organization,” explained director of nursing Jessica Steinberg. “The Partner of Nursing Award is just one way we can show our appreciation for the commitment, compassion, care and collaboration that results in the highest levels of patient-centered care. Patrick Barnes, who died from complications of an auto-immune disease. His family was amazed by the care Patrick and they received and they wanted to find a way to honor these caregivers.

Each and every patient that walks through our doors is treated like family, and they receive the very best every member of our team has to offer. We are also very proud to announce that 15 nurses from Public Health, the Family Medicine and Specialty Clinics and Greene County Medical Center’s acute, emergency and surgery departments have been nominated for this year’s award.”
