The Greene County girls track and field team found fifth place at home and eighth at Carroll last week, with first place finishes for Payton Kokenge and Emma Ewalt at the events.
The Rams competed at Des Moines Christian on Monday, with their next meet on Monday, April 29, at North Polk High School, with the Heart of Iowa Conference meet set to be held on Thursday, May 2, at South Hamilton High School in Jewell.
At home on April 17, the Rams tied for fifth with Perry High School. Kokenge leaped to first in the high jump, with Savannah Lansman in long jump and Kaycee Pittman in the 400 meter dash each placing second. Five events placed third for the Rams, including: Daniele Madsen in shot put; Calleigh Fitzpatrick and Lila Osterson in high jump; Pittman in 400 meter hurdles; Evelyn Snyder, 3000 meter run.
For relays, the 4×100.25 meter relay throwers took second with a team of Ewalt, Alaina Heard, Madsen and Natalie Wright. Also placing second was the 4×200 meter relay team of Lansman, Addison Gannon, Osterson and Pittman. Two teams placed fifth, with the 4×100 meter relay of Lansman, Osterson, Gannon and Pittman, and the distance medley group of Stalder, Sara Morlan, Kokenge and Hailey Carman.

On Thursday, the team traveled to Carroll, placing eighth as a team. Ewalt took first in discus, with Kokenge placing second in the high jump. Snyder had a third place finish in the 3000 meter run.
In relays, the distance medley team of Gannon, Stalder, Lansman and Pittman finished second, and the 4×400 meter relay group of Lansman, Sadie Shannon, Gannon and Pittman saw a fifth place finish.
