In late November, the women of Beta Tau Delta again made their appeal to the citizens of Greene County to join with us in our efforts to help provide for the needs of the children of Greene County. The response was outstanding, and we wish to sincerely thank all those who contributed to this effort.
With your support, over $13,000 was raised that will be used to address issues ranging from critical needs for at-risk children to post high school scholarship, including athletic opportunities, library programs, homeless youth, children dealing with food insecurities, coats and boots for disadvantaged children, a trip to the Blank Park Zoo for all Greene County first graders and countless other concerns.
Supporting Greene County children has been the mission of Beta Tau Delta for over 100 years. Over those many decades, needs have changed, families have changed, home life has changed, and some children are often fending for themselves. Some high school kids are sleeping in their cars or on a friend’s sofa. Some kids don’t have winter coats, gloves or hats and are walking through the snow to school in ill-fitting shoes with no socks. Come are wearing the same clothes for many days or need to be treated for head lice on a routine basis.
With the help of teachers and school nurses, librarians, recreation programs, music teachers, social service providers and others, we identify where there are specific needs and where funding is needed to provide health and hygiene care, youth programs, academic resources, athletic and musical opportunities, and urgent needs of our children.
Most of us don’t realize how many of our Greene County children are truly in need. Thank you for joining with us in making so many things possible for so many kids.
