The Greene County boys basketball team saw their season come to an end Feb. after 12 after falling 60-42 to the Manson Northwest Webster Cougars in the first round of 2A postseason play.
Greene County ends their season 1-13 in conference play and 2-20 overall, sitting last in the Heart of Iowa Conference.
The Rams fell in all four frames at Manson Northwest Webster High School, seeing a nine point deficit in the first quarter, and trailing 28-16 at the end of the first half with Greene County unable to close the gap throughout the night. The Rams had trouble finding the basket, making 17 of 45 attempted field goal shots. Twenty-seven fouls didn’t help the cause, with key player Nathan Behne fouling out in the game.
Three seniors led the night, with Brynley Ruzicka scoring 14 points, Behne 13 and Gabe Ebersole eight. Behne and Ruzicka had five rebounds each with Ebersole adding two, and Behne and Ruzicka had two assists each with Ebersole credited with one. Junior Isaac Carman contributed four points with sophomore Nick Madsen scoring two and sophomore Nathan Towers putting one point on the board.
