To all eligible voters in the unincorporated areas of Greene County. A Special Election will be held on Tuesday, March 5, 2024. There will be two propositions on the ballot. The first proposition is to authorize the imposition of a local sales and services tax (LOSST) in the unincorporated area of Greene County, to continue without repeal of the existing local sales and services tax (LOSST) at the rate of one percent, to be effective July 1, 2027, until repeal. The second proposition is to authorize the change in use of the one precent (1%) local sales and services tax (LOSST) in the unincorporated area of Greene County effective July 1, 2024.
Pre-registered voters are required to provide an approved form of identification at the polling place before receiving and casting a regular ballot. Voters who are not pre-registered – such as voters registering to vote on election day – and voters changing precincts must also provide proof of residence. Voters who are unable to provide an approved form of identification, or proof of residence if required may 1) have the voter’s identity/residence attested by another registered voter in the precinct, 2) prove identity/residence by using Election Day Registrant documents or 3) cast a provisional ballot and provide proof of identity/residence at the county auditor’s office by noon on March 11, 2024. Election Day Registration attesters must provide an approved form of identification. Polls will be open from 7:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m.
A public test of the voting equipment will take place on Friday, February 23, 2024. Testing of the Freedom Vote Scan (FVS) and Freedom Vote Tablet (FVT) will take place on the first floor of the Greene County Courthouse (Election Office) beginning at 9:00 a.m. and will continue until all equipment has been tested.
