With more winter weather in the area, the Greene County girls basketball team managed to fit one game in last week after Monday was snowed out. The Rams hosted South Hamilton on Jan. 19, falling 61-16.
Missed shots and turnovers didn’t help the Rams in their ongoing quest for the first win of the season. Greene County had a tough opponent with the South Hamilton Hawks having a season record of 9-4. The Hawks dominated the court right off the opening whistle, putting up 36 points in the first half, holding the Rams to 10. Greene County struggled to score only six points in the second half of the game.
Six points were scored by Makenna Ebersole, with Emma Shipley adding two and Payton Kokenge another two. Shipley led in rebounds, credited with four and three steals, with Kokenge at three boards and Ebersole with three. The team attempted 25 field goal shots, finding success with seven. No three-point attempts were good, and two of four attempted free throws made it in the basket.
