Jo-Ann (Horton) Hall passed away on December 27, 2023, at Regency Park Nursing and Rehab in Jefferson after a long courageous battle with dementia. She was 66 years old.
Jo-Ann Horton was born on August 5, 1957, to Faith (Worman) Horton and Larry Horton in Hammond, IN. The family moved to Iowa and made their home in Madrid. Jo-Ann graduated from Madrid High School in 1975. She was married to her high school sweetheart, David Lee Zenor, in 1975, and they shared one daughter, Layla Jean, born later that year.
The couple later divorced, and Jo-Ann was united in marriage to her second husband, James Allen Hall, in April 1983. Jo-Ann and Jim adopted a son, Jacob James, in 1987 from Busan, Korea, and the family made their home in Berkley and later, Grand Junction, for many years. Jim and Jo-Ann divorced in 2018, and Jo-Ann moved to Carroll with her beloved dog Jammer.
Jo-Ann met many co-workers she called friends throughout her lifetime at various employers. She was an RTW and later, an RTS-1 at Woodward State Hospital, a church secretary at the Ogden Methodist Church for several years, and worked overnight at Wal-Mart in Carroll prior to her dementia diagnosis. Jo-Ann enjoyed walking with and spoiling Jammer, laughing with her children, and delighted in watching her grandchildren grow up. She was especially proud of her family and spent a lot of time scrapbooking precious family memories and events.
Jo-Ann was preceded in death by her parents, Faith and Larry Horton; sister Debra Bratcher; brother John Horton; and her dog Jammer.
Left to cherish her memory are her children,Layla (Zenor) Rysavy (Shawn Gilbert) of Fort Dodge; son Dr. Jacob James Hall of Evans, CO; grandchildren Lucas, Garrett (Torey), and Tyler Rysavy; and her sisters Pam Winebrenner of Grand Junction, and Ruth Horton of Beatrice, NE. She also leaves behind many cousins, aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, and friends.
