The Greene County Pheasants Forever chapter raised more than $8,800 in the live and silent auction at the annual banquet held Nov. 4 at Clover Hall in Jefferson. With additional funds from raffle ticket sales and games, the night was very successful.
Committee members Kevin Devilbiss, Jeff Gorsuch, Mike Minnihan, Fred Long, Susan Cort, Dean Dozier, Steve Cort, Luke Nims, Kyle Holt and Crissy Rhodes organized the event. A meal catered by Lidderdale Country Store preceded the live auction which was cried for the 30th time by Kevin Lentz.
The live auction of 33 items brought in bids of $5,360. The silent auction added $1,114 to the treasury.
There were 12 hats auctioned with the owners selected to have a chance to win several nice prizes including two guns, gift cards, binoculars, camo vest, gas grill, range bag, chair, ammo box and boots. The 12 hats brought $2,410 with most bidders paying $220 per hat.
Gold sponsors included Fairview Vet Clinic, Michael and Vikki Subbert, Steve and Julie Karber, Kevin and Teresa Devilbiss, Dunkers by Matt and Darrin Ross.
Silver sponsors were Greene County Soil and Water District, Kevin Fouch, Fred and Sandy Long.
Susan Cort heads up the Girls Outdoor Experience for the chapter. Girls ages 12 – 15 years earn their hunter education certificate as they experience a variety of hunting and outdoor activities. The classes take place during the summer.
