Services for Dorothy Potthoff, 91, of Jefferson, were held November 6, 2023 at Slininger-Schroeder Funeral Home, Jefferson.
The Rev. Linden Wendzel officiated. Interment was in the Jefferson Municipal Cemetery.
Dorothy Ellen Meyer Potthoff was born February 16, 1932, in Cairo, NE. She was the daughter of Willie and Iva (Burton) Meyer. Dorothy was raised in Jefferson. She received her associate of arts degree from the University of Iowa.

Dorothy raised three children in Des Moines while working for the state legislature as executive secretary to the chief clerk, among other roles. She returned to Jefferson in ‘93 to take care of her beloved family farm.
Dorothy loved the land and conservation. She was ahead of her time with her desires to take care of the land. She was also an avid reader throughout her life and continued learning through Iowa State University Extension and Outreach, as well as OLLI. She also loved to knit, sew, bake, and walk the parks with her fur companions.
Dorothy passed away October 22, 2023, in Jefferson, at the age of 91 years.
She is survived by her daughters Lynn Potthoff and Leigh Potthoff Strohn (Robert); son D. Kurt Potthoff; grandchildren Sydney Strohn, Samantha Strohn, Patrick Ehlers (Julie), Marissa Mullenbach (Drew), Andrea Potthoff, and Benjamin Potthoff; and great-grandchildren Luke, Elle, Tate, and Ku’uipo.
Dorothy would love us all to live in harmony, take care of our beautiful earth, animals, and dance as much as we can.
A granite bench will be donated to Daubendiek Park in her memory as she loved walking there. Services by Slininger-Schroeder Funeral Home, Jefferson.
