Mike Bierl, Greene County veterans affairs director, provides the following round-up of Veterans Day activities.
Hy Vee breakfast at the Greene County Community Center Friday, Nov. 10, from 6 am to approximately 11 am. The Greene County High School video productions class will show a Veterans Appreciation video during the breakfast from 8:30 to approximately 9 am.
Lunch at Bet and Bev’s provided by Home State Bank Friday from 11 am to 2 pm.
Veterans program at Paton-Churdan High School, Friday at 2 pm.
Veterans Day ceremony at the Van Meter Cemetery on Friday at 8 am. Speaker Retired Marine Major Shawn Quinlin. The American Legion Auxiliary Unit 403 will host a breakfast at the Van Meter Reception Center at 910 Main St.
Operation Green Light for Veterans encourages illuminating buildings and homes with green lights from November 6th – 12th to show gratitude and grow awareness. The south side of the Greene County courthouse and the Mahanay Memorial Carillon Tower will be lighted green accordingly.
