Noah Hinote, a junior at Greene County High School, ran at the state cross country meet in Fort Dodge on Saturday, placing 87th out of 133 racers.
The Class 3A boys race kicked off at 2:45 p.m. Oct. 28 at the Lakeside Municipal Golf Course. Hinote was in 67th after the first meter of the race, falling to 95th at the second meter mark. By the end of the race he had made his way back to 87th, finishing in 17:27.9, setting personal record and a Greene County school record. Hinote also ran in the state cross country meet last year.
The first place runner, Canaan Dunham of Pella, finished in 15:18.5 while the final runner was done in 20:34.4. Gilbert won the team title with 57 points followed by Pella taking second with 63 and Lewis Central third with 100.
