Adopt-a-Family asks for financial help

Adopt-a-Family is asking community members for monetary support for this year’s winter coat distribution and holiday food baskets.

AAF will provide holiday food boxes to Greene County families and individuals in need this holiday season as in years past. In 2022 more than 155 families received holiday food. This year, AAF is preparing for a record number of families and individuals needing help.

The food distribution will be Dec. 23. AAF remains committed to making sure the food needs of Greene County are being met.

In addition to the food program, AAF will supply winter outerwear to 140 Greene County children. This program has served many Greene County children over the years.

The 2023 winter clothing distribution will be held Nov. 4. AAF is determined to help Greene County children stay warm during the cold Iowa winter.

“In the past, AAF has been generously supported through donations. We are very thankful for the support,” a spokesperson said. “Our biggest need is funds so we can serve as many families as possible.”

Monetary donations can be sent to Adopt-a-Family, PO Box 364, Jefferson, IA  50129. Donations can also be made directly to the AAF account at area Peoples Bank locations.

“AAF greatly appreciates the past generosity and looks forward to working together again this year to meet the essential needs of our community,” the spokesperson said.
