Ebersole, Hansen set school records

Despite falling 62-31 at Roland-Story High School Friday night, the Greene County football team walked away with something to be proud of, with new program records set in the game.
Ram quarterback Gabe Ebersole had a huge night, throwing the ball for 464 yards. Jack Hansen was on the receiving end of 328 of those yards, being credited with three receiving touchdowns, setting Greene County school records.
In addition to the 464 passing yards, the Rams had 39 rushing yards in the game, totaling 503 offensive yards. The team gave up 193 yards in the air and 372 on the ground for a total of 565 yards for the Norsemen.
The game started with Roland-Story scoring twice in the first quarter and once in the second before the Rams managed to get on the board with a 49-yard pass, with an extra point. The rest of the second quarter was back and forth, with Roland-Story scoring from a 32-yard run before the Rams scored after a 72-yard pass, closing the lead 28-14. Roland-Story scored twice more before the Rams had a three-yard rushing touchdown. The Norsemen closed the half with a 68-yard run. The score was 49-21.
In the third quarter, Roland-Story started the action with a 2-yard run, followed by a 38-yard Greene County pass. The fourth quarter brought another rushing touchdown for the Norsemen, with a 32-yard field goal from the Rams ending the game 62-31.
Defensively, Gavin Scheuermann led the team with seven tackles in the night, including three solo. Christopher Daugherty had four solo tackles with six total. Trey Schilling was credited with the only Ram sack of the night.
The loss put the Rams at a 3-3 overall record, with two games left in the regular season. The Rams will host Southeast Valley (4-2) on Friday for senior night, with a road trip to Des Moines Christian High School (3-3) on Friday, Oct. 13.
Kuemper Catholic is leading Class 2A District 8 with a 3-0 record. Des Moines Christian and Roland-Story are tied for second at 2-1. Greene County and Southeast Valley have 1-2 marks with Saydel 0-3.
