The Greene County volleyball team played one match last week, traveling to Roland-Story High School on Thursday, falling 3-0, putting their season record at 10-7 overall and 2-2 in the Heart of Iowa Conference.
Though the Rams were able to keep it close in the second game, it wasn’t enough to take the win. They fell in three sets, 25-11, 28-26 and 25-14. Emma Shipley led the team in kills with eight, Graci Cooklin led with 15 digs and Kaylee Stalder had the most aces for the team with three.
“Due to a sluggish start, we fell quickly behind and couldn’t dig ourselves out. Our competitive drive kicked in for a very exciting second match, but a return to the unforced errors and inconsistent passing that we saw in match one led to our overall defeat,” commented coach Chris Heisterkamp.
The Rams are scheduled to play at home on Saturday for a tournament. Other teams are Pella Christian, South Hardin, Nodaway Valley, Carroll, Stanton and Carlisle.
Upcoming games: Tuesday, Oct. 3 at home against West Marshall; Thursday, Oct. 5 at Saydel High School.
