The Greene County cross country teams competed in the Roland-Story Invitational Thursday, Sept. 21, with the boys finishing sixth in an 11-team field.
Noah Hinote once again paced the Rams with an 11th place finish in 18:06.39, a personal best. Not far behind was Gavyn Winters in 15th place with a time of 18:13.68. Both are juniors. Completing the team score were freshman Brady Carstensen, 24th, 18:36.94; senior Colby Angell, 40th, 19:35.41, and freshman Eli Carstensen, 65, 21:51.00. Runners not in the team score were freshman Blaise Schilling, 66th, in 22:06.24 and freshman Maddox Carstensen, 72nd, 23:23.59
The winning time was 16:03.19 set by Carson Van Sickle of Ogden. His closest competitor, Clay Warson of Madrid, was nearly 30 seconds behind him.
Team scores were Nevada 51, Clear Lake 92, Ogden 92, Madrid 104, Bondurant-Farrar 119, Greene County 155, South Hamilton 191, Southeast Valley 193, Roland-Story 195, Woodward Academy 292, and Saydel 300.
The Ram girls did not have enough runners for a team score and times were not provided. Sophomore Ava Minnehan placed 30th and sophomore Becca Anderson placed 37th. Other runners were sophomore Leah McCormick and freshman Evelyn Snyder.
Clear Lake won the girls race with a team score of 38. Other team scores were Madrid 61, Roland-Story 69, Nevada 85, Bondurant-Farrar 126, Ogden 157, South Hamilton 210, Southeast Valley 228 and Saydel 235.
