Jacquelyn Olson, age 81, passed away August 20, 2023. A gathering of family and friends will be held Saturday, Sept. 16, at 3 pm at the Milwaukee Depot in Jefferson.
Jacquelyn Olson was born May 3, 1942, in Los Angeles, CA. She was the daughter of Jack Edward Christie and Ruth Mary Brissler Christie. As a young girl Jackie grew up in Gardenia, CA, loving the Pacific Ocean. She and her family would go to Mexico, camp on the beach, catch fresh seafood and cook it right there on the beach. She was a California Girl through and through!
Jackie’s dad, Jack, operated a paint and body car restoration shop. Jackie, at age 16, acquired a baby blue 1940 Ford coupe, a gift from her dad. The Ford was custom designed with pinstripes and named Miss Misty! Jackie street-raced the car from time to time, and always came up with the win! Another favorite pastime included riding shotgun in her dad’s race boat as they sped across the water to Catalina. Additionally, in the spirit of enjoyment and performing, Jackie entertained crowds in California venues as a Go-Go dancer.
Jackie met Gary Olson in 1960. She became his wife and they shared 49 years of joy and adventure! They were the parents of three children: Michael, Heavenly Mary, and Shawn, and they raised their family in California.
Jackie’s career was in cosmetology. She had her own shop called Best in the West. She had many faithful clients, including some well-known California celebrities. Jackie officially retired in 2014.
Following her husband’s death, Jackie made the move to Jefferson to be near her family. She chose a home on N. Chestnut St, which had a front porch that she adored. She loved lacy curtains on every window, and merrily decorated her home with Coca-Cola memorabilia. Jackie’s sister Linda visited often. Jackie enjoyed her Jefferson home so much because she could be close to her family while they grew.
Jacquelyn Olson passed away August 20, 2023 at the age of 81 years. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, her daughter Heavenly Mary, granddaughter Misty Dawn, and a grandson Cody.
Jackie is survived by her sons Michael Olson and Shawn (daughter-in-love Jennie) Olson; grandchildren Nicole Anderson, Merissa Olson, Shawn Jr. (Alexis) Olson, Josh Parrish, and Britany Olson; great-grandchildren Lilly Massey, little Shawn, Kilee, Brody, and Liam. Also surviving are sisters Linda Palazzo and Laurie Ordonez; son-in-law Richard Anderson; other relatives and friends.
Jackie was so many wonderful names to everyone: Mom, Ma, Mother-in-love, sister, and friend. She was kind, loving, selfless, giving, and she was loved! She will be greatly missed.
The family is assisted by Slininger-Schroeder Funeral Home, Jefferson.
