Greene County Community School District has hired a new middle school principal, with Cara Osborne assuming the role.
Osborne, originally from Boone, has worked in a variety of positions and places. Her first teaching job was at Newton Middle School as a seventh grade teacher, before moving to Long County Middle School in Georgia.
After her time in Georgia, she went to Tennessee, working at two different schools, teaching kindergarten, K-5 science and fourth grade math, then only fourth grade math, and she was an instructional coach.
Being back “home,” Osborne is excited to get to know the community, and having that small town feel again, especially with four youngsters of her own, 12-year-old twins, a four-year-old and a two-year-old.
“I’m excited to propel Greene County Middle School forward in academics and excellence,” said Osborne.
Although her expectations for all of her students are high, Osborne is supportive of each of them, wanting the best for them all.
“I’m here to build positive relationships and have an open line of communication so we can all work cohesively together,” explained Osborne, mentioning that the school and parents all have the same goal, “Doing the best we can for our students.”
