Doris Pauline (Busch) Tipton, age 91, of Rippey, Iowa, passed away June 30th, 2023, at Eden Acres Perry Lutheran home.
Doris was born on Dec. 27, 1931, to Joe and Jean (Crawford) Busch at home in Madison County. Her family moved to Cooper in 1949. Doris met the love of her life, Charles W. Tipton, while in school at Cooper. After graduating from Cooper High School in 1950, Charles and Doris married at the Cooper Methodist Church on Aug. 12, 1951. Together they raised three children, Tim, Teresa, and David. Doris and Charles were married for 32 years prior to Charles’ passing in 1983.
Lifelong Iowans, Doris and Charles and their family lived in Cedar Falls, Carson, Cooper, and then moved to Rippey in 1953 where Doris resided for 65 years. Doris was a member of the Amity Club, bridge clubs, and the Rippey Methodist Church. Doris’ first love was her family; she was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother. She also enjoyed time on the farm, flower gardening, and baking.
As well as being a wonderful mother and grandmother, Doris served her community by working in many positions over the years. She worked at the Rippey Co-op Paint Store & Appliance Center, she provided childcare, served as the Rippey librarian and Rippey city clerk, and worked at East Greene Community Schools as a cook.
Doris was preceded in death by her husband Charles W. Tipton; parents and parents-in-law; and siblings.
Doris is survived by her children Tim (Linda) Tipton, Teresa Tipton, David Tipton; grandchildren Jaimi (Paul) Bird and their children Maxwell and Mitchell, Levi (Jennifer) Tipton and their children Liv and Ty, Jenna Larson and her daughter Anna, Michael (Jessi) Larson and their daughter Krista, Wesley (Noelle) Tipton, and Wyatt (Gaby) Tipton.
