The Greene County Youth Athletic Association will close the 2023 summer season this Saturday, June 17, at the fields at 510 N. Pinet St in Jefferson.
Introduction of teams will take place at 10 am, with the VFW presenting the Colors and the National Anthem at 10:30.
A representative of Grow Greene County will throw the first pitch at 10:50.
Ball games will be played on all three fields by T-ball through sixth grade teams from 11 am to 2 pm.
A home run derby will begin at 2 pm on the west field. The derby is for youngsters ages 8 to 90. There is a $5 entry fee.
Fareway and the Greene County Cattlemen will serve a lunch for a free will donation starting at 11 am.
Sponsors include Home State Bank, Landus, A & W, Jefferson Telecom, Mid-Iowa Insurance, Grow Greene County, B & D Manufacturing, New Way, Fairview Vet Clinic, Country Blessings, Peoples Bank, Eason Feedlots, Hoyt Morain & Homer PC, and the Greene County Community Foundation.
Proceeds from the day will to toward chain-link fence improvements, field surfaces, pitching machines, concession and quad renovations, and batting cages.
