The Greene County boys soccer team lost in the first round of the Class 2A state soccer tournament Tuesday, falling 5-0 to the Gilbert Tigers at Des Moines’ James Cownie Soccer Complex.
The Rams end the season with 13 wins and five losses. The win put the Tigers at 19-2 on the season.
The shut-out is only the second time the Rams have been held scoreless, with the first shutout being a 0-3 loss to Nevada May 9.
Junior Gesser Gutierres led the Rams with goals at 42 with a shots-on-goal percentage of 59.2. Senior Brayden Roberts finished the season at 100 in SOG, having made the only shot he took on the goal. Senior Jose Velazco made 20 goals and is credited with 16 assists.
