A pair of annual recognition weeks will be celebrated at Greene County Medical Center May 6-13 – National Hospital Week and National Nurses Week.
Special activities and events are organized throughout the week to show gratitude to all team members and will close with a Jefferson Matters Java & Juice Friday, May 12.
Greene County Medical Center will also put a spotlight on its nurses and their support staff on Wednesday afternoon at the Partner of Nursing and DAISY Award ceremonies.
“The Partner of Nursing Award was created by the nursing staff to recognize collaborative team members who form partnerships of mutual respect and support to achieve the best possible outcomes for our patients and their families,” explained Jessica Steinberg, director of nursing. “This type of teamwork helps us all develop and grow together in ways that enhance and support the patient and family experience. We are pleased to be able to celebrate these individuals.”
Nominees for the 2023 Partner of Nursing Award are Tammy Andre, Anne Carstens, Jamie McDonald, Sara Miller, Judy Murphy, Deana Shriver and Phyllis Woodley.
Following the Partner of Nursing will be the DAISY Award for Extraordinary Nurses. This annual international recognition program is a special way to say thank you to nurses for the “super-human” work they do every day in caring for patients and their families.
The award was created in memory of J. Patrick Barnes, who died in 1999 at the age of 33 from complications of an auto-immune disease. His family was so moved by the care Patrick and they received, the award was created as a way others could express their gratitude to outstanding nurses.
“The care, nurturing, support, compassion and empathy our nurses show, day-in and day-out, exemplifies what makes Greene County Medical Center, the Family Medicine Clinic and Public Health ‘Your Home for Healthcare’,” said interim Chief Nursing Officer Ann Erickson. “We care for our patients and their family members as if they were our own, and we could not be more proud of all our nurses who give everything they have to every person who walks through our doors.”
Nominees for the 2023 DAISY Award are Erin Ackerson, Stacey Biggart, Noelle Clouse, Matt Gordon, Macie Hagen, Deb Hoskins, Janey McCabe, Teresa Morlan, Terry Rottinghaus, Dan Scheuermann, Abby Skoglund and Chelsie Thompson.
The public is invited to join medical center staff for the awards ceremonies, which will be held Wednesday, May 10, at 2 pm, as well as the Java & Juice on Friday, May 12 at 9:30 am. Both will take place in the main lobby at Greene County Medical Center.
