In Greene County district court Jerry Edward Murphy, 62, of Jefferson was sentenced April 27 to one year in jail after he changed his plea to guilty to a charge of operating while intoxicated. All but two days of the jail time was suspended and he was placed on probation to Boone/Greene County Probation for one year. He may complete the Des Moines Area Community College 48-hour alcohol education program in lieu of the jail time. He must complete a drinking drivers course, and he must undergo a substance abuse evaluation and complete any recommended treatment at his own expense. Murphy was fined $1,250 with a $187.50 surcharge; one-half will be waived if he obtains a temporary restricted license. Court costs were $100. (Sentencing: Honorable Joseph B. McCarville)
Persons pleaded not guilty to charges as follows: Mecktisha Jane Hagar, 25, of Jefferson, possession of marijuana; Troy James Harbacheck, 63, of Moorland, possession of methamphetamine and possession of marijuana with intent to distribute; and Jay D. Wenger, 24, of Beaver, driving while license barred. Trial date for Hagar was set for June 13. Trial dates for Harbacheck and Wenger were set for July 18.
Information is available since the return of an arrest warrant that Paul Ryan Purviance, 65, of Perry is charged with gambling- avoid setoff.
Cases were initiated during the week ending April 28 as follows: Casey Lynn Lebeau, 32, of Jefferson, operate vehicle without owner’s consent; and Nicholas John Parris, 40, of Jefferson, operating while intoxicated and possess/carry dangerous weapon while under influence.
