The Greene County boys soccer team continued their win streak last week, picking up two wins against Ballard and Kuemper Catholic.
On Monday, April 10, the Rams hosted Ballard, winning 8-0. Two goals each were scored by Jose Velazco and Gesser Gutierres, with one each from Jack Hansen, Chad Maston, Kolby Angell and Bork Ersnes. Velazco had two assists, with one from Gabe Ebersole, Cody McCollom and Fredy Aguilar. Ebersole had three saves as goalie, and as a team the Rams had 24 shots with 17 shots on goal.
The April 11 game was at Kuemper Catholic High School, where the Rams won 10-0 after hitting the 10 run rule 7:39 into the second half of the game. Gutierres had four goals, with three from Velazco, two from Hansen and one from Angell. Velazco was also credited with four assists, three for Angell and one from Ersnes. The Rams took 19 shots, with 15 counted as shots on goal. Ebersole had three saves from the goalie position.
“Defense played well in windy conditions and overall we played our match and did not let the weather or play of the other team dictate our play,” commented coach Carl Behne. “Only downside of the match was after Gesser’s fourth goal, he took a very cheap shot from behind that took him out of the match. It was well after the play and unfortunate.” The Rams played April 18 at home (Karber Field in Grand Junction) against Winterset, and are scheduled
