In Greene County district court Melissa Renee Pedersen, 53, of Council Bluffs was sentenced April 7 to 10 days in jail after she changed her plea to guilty to a charge of driving while license barred. She was fined $855 with a $128.25 surcharge. The court ruled she is unable to pay restitution for her court appointed attorney’s or court costs. (Sentencing: Honorable Joseph B. McCarville)
Jessie James Sanders, 21, of Churdan was sentenced April 6 to 60 days in jail after he changed his plea to guilty to a charge of possession of marijuana. The jail term was suspended and he was placed on probation to Boone/Greene County Probation for one year. He must undergo a substance abuse evaluation and complete any recommended treatment at his own expense. Sanders was fined $430 with a $64.50 surcharge. He must pay an amount not to exceed $600 restitution for his court appointed attorney’s fees and $100 court costs. In a companion case in magistrate court a charge of possession of drug paraphernalia was dismissed. No court costs were assessed in that case. (Sentencing: McCarville)

All but two days of the jail time was suspended and he was placed on probation to Boone/Greene County Probation for one year. He may complete the Des Moines Area Community College 48-hour alcohol education program at his own expense in lieu of the jail time. He must undergo a substance abuse evaluation and complete any recommended treatment at his own expense, and he must complete the Iowa drinking drivers course. Molle was fined $1,250 with a $187.50 surcharge; one-half will be waived if he obtains a temporary restricted license. Caleb Ernest Johnson, 30, of Jefferson was sentenced April 5 to 180 days in jail after he changed his plea to guilty to a charge of OWI- second offense. All but seven days of the jail time was suspended and he was placed on probation to Boone/Greene County Probation for one year. He may complete the DMACC 48-hour alcohol education program at his own expense in lieu of two days of the jail time. He must undergo a substance abuse evaluation and complete any recommended treatment at his own expense, and he must complete the Iowa drinking drivers course. Johnson was fined $1,875 with a $281.25 surcharge. He must pay an amount not to exceed $600 restitution for his court appointed attorney’s fees and $100 court costs. (Sentencing: McCarville)
Travis Scot Clark, 33, of Denison was sentenced to 10 days in jail after he changed his plea to guilty to a charge of driving while license barred- habitual offender. He was fined $855 with a $128.25 surcharge; both were suspended. He must pay $100 court costs. (Sentencing: McCarville)
Richard Braden Daugherty, 18, of Paton was granted a deferred judgment after he changed his plea to guilty to a charge of possession of marijuana. He was placed on probation to the Greene County sheriff for one year, and he must undergo a substance abuse evaluation and complete any recommended treatment at his own expense. A judgment was entered for a $430 civil penalty and $100 court costs. A charge in magistrate court in which Daugherty was charged with possession of drug paraphernalia was dismissed. Persons pleaded not guilty at arraignment as follows: Dawn Maria Miller, 48, of Lanesboro, gambling- avoid setoff, and fraudulent practice- third degree; Logan Joseph Peed, 26, of Somers, driving while license barred; Christopher Herbert Lawrence, 42, of Jefferson, identity theft- fourth degree, theft against older individual, and unauthorized use of credit card less than $1,500; Richard Dean Washington, 29, of Des Moines, OWI, possession of marijuana, and possession of dangerous weapon while under the influence; and Katelin Rae Lowmiller, 31, of Jefferson, theft- fourth degree. A trial date was set for May 9 for Washington, and for June 13 for all other defendants named.
