GJ voters elect Jacobs to city council

Dennis Jacobs won a seat on the Grand Junction city council in a special election Feb. 14. He will fill the vacancy created when Mark Renslow resigned from the council last November. The next month the council appointed Jacobs to fill the vacancy until a special election could be held.

Jacobs won the council seat by only one vote. Unofficial results show him with 42 votes, followed by Spencer Kirk with 41 votes and Terry Hoefle with 18 votes. There was one write-in vote.

The 102 ballots cast reflect a 21.21 percent voter turnout.
