The annual BRR (Bike Ride to Rippey) took place Saturday with a cold wind but sunny skies. More than 600 bicyclists registered for the morning ride from downtown Perry to downtown Rippey and back.
The BRR is a win-win-win. The Perry Chamber of Commerce starts the year with a successful event that nets registration fees, bicyclists of all ages can claim to be so hardy (or perhaps fanatical) enough to brave the cold for a good ride, and organizations in Rippey have an opportunity to host riders on their turn-around and raise funds for their community.
Food was served at the United Methodist Church and the Rippey Community Center. The event is a major fundraiser for the Rippey Lions Club, with proceeds going toward community projects, the Lions leader dog project, and more.
