The Greene County boys basketball team has a two-game win streak going after beating South Hamilton and PCM last week.
The Rams are scheduled to play at home on Friday against West Marshall High School.
Greene County picked up an important conference victory over South Hamilton Tuesday 63-59. The Rams went up 19-16 in the first but a slow second quarter allowed the Hawks to pull ahead 34-27. The Hawks held onto the lead in the third, 44-38 but the Rams powered in 25 fourth quarter points to pull away for the 63-59 win.
Richard Daugherty had a big night for the Rams with 24 points, three rebounds, one steal and three assists. Jesse Miller scored 13 points with 10 rebounds, two blocks and three steals. Gabe Ebersole put 13 points on the board, with eight rebounds and two steals.
The team shot at 38.2 percent from 2-point range and 21.8 percent from 3-point range. They committed 12 fouls and 13 turnovers.
Friday’s game was another road show, with the Rams taking the game over PCM 54-51.
Greene County bullied into a 19-13 lead in the first but the Mustangs tied the game at 24 in the second. The third quarter was almost even but the Rams were determined and pulled away in the fourth for the 54-51 victory.
Miller notched a double / double with 10 rebounds and 13 points. Richard Daugherty topped the scoring column with 24 points. Ebersole played a solid game with 13 points and eight rebounds. The team’s shooting percentages were better than earlier in the week, shooting at 44.7 percent from 2-point range and 33.3 percent from 3-point range. They committed 17 fouls and 14 turnovers.
The Rams are third in the Heart of Iowa Activities Conference as of Jan. 23 with a 6-4 record. Roland-Story leads the conference at 9-0, followed by Nevada at 7-2. Other team records are South Hamilton 5-4, PCM 3-7, West Marshall 3-6, Perry 2-7, and Saydel 2-7.
