Habitat for Humanity’s Nativity Festival returns this Sunday

After a Covid-required hiatus, the Nativity Festival returns to Greene County Sunday, Dec. 11, at the First United Methodist Church in Jefferson as a fundraiser for Habitat for Humanity.

The event will begin with a display of nativity sets at 3 pm. A community Christmas concert will begin at 4 pm in the church sanctuary. The concert will feature the Methodist Church choir, the Greene County Singers, and other area musicians.

The concert will be followed by a supper of homemade soup, and will end with a pie auction. Bakers who would like to donate a pie for the auction can contact Ron Christensen at 515-290-4840. Music groups that would like to be part of the concert should also contact Christensen.

Persons who would like to display their favorite nativity set can contact Marilyn Millard at 515-370-4202. The nativity sets should be set up by their owners between 12:30 and 2:30 pm. A short story about the nativity set and why it is special should be sent prior to Sunday to Millard at marilynmi56@yahoo.com. Nativity sets can be picked up immediately after the concert or the soup supper.

There will also be a silent auction of nativity sets. Persons who want to donate a nativity set for the auction can contact Millard either by phone or email.
