The Greene County Medical Center auxiliary hopes to add festive joy to the holiday season while raising funds to benefit the medical center.
Now through Dec. 7, the public is invited to admire the Christmas trees, wreaths, and one-of-a-kind table decorations in the medical center lobby for the annual Holiday of Lights. The items are all in a silent auction, with bidding closing Wednesday, Dec. 7, at 2 pm. Winning bidders can pick up and take home their new decor from 2 to 6 pm that day, Dec. 8 from 10 am to 3 pm, or Dec. 10 from 12 to 4 pm.
The auxiliary’s Gift Garden, just off the main lobby, is stocked with seasonal decorations and gifts. The Gift Garden is open Tuesday through Thursday from 10 am to 3 pm, and now, for the holidays, Saturdays Dec. 10 and Dec. 17 from 12 to 4 pm. There will be a special sale with 25 percent off all Christmas items Dec. 13-15 and Dec. 17.
The popular auxiliary candy sale is scheduled for Thursday, Dec. 15, also in the medical center lobby. The sale opens at 7 am and will close when the treats are sold out.
The public is also encouraged to consider giving the gift of life to up to three individuals by donating blood at the auxiliary’s community blood drive Tuesday, Dec. 13, from 12:30 to 5:30 pm at Trinity Lutheran Church in Jefferson. Call LifeServe Blood Center at 800-287-4903 to schedule an appointment. (Appointments are required.)
The auxiliary raises funds to support the equipment, furnishing and material needs of the medical center’s various departments while also offering personal assistance throughout the facility. Each year, donations are also allocated to the scholarship program. Thanks to the support of the public, the auxiliary has presented more than $600,000 to Greene County Medical Center over the past 61 years.
