Following are excerpts of activities reported by the Greene County sheriff:
Tuesday, Nov. 30: At 7:47 am a deputy assisted the Jefferson PD with trying to locate a wanted person in the 500 block of W. Harrison St. At 12:27 pm a deputy investigated a complaint of identity theft in the 1000 block of 240th St in Jackson Township. At 3:02 pm a deputy investigated a single vehicle accident in the 1400 block of 100th St in Dawson Township. Brandon Carley, 42, of Moville lost control of a 2002 Ford F150 and rolled the vehicle in the south ditch. Carley was cited for failure to maintain control. Damage to the vehicle exceeded value.
Monday, Nov. 29: At 9:29 pm a deputy investigated an attempted burglary in the 800 block of West Main Street, Grand Junction.
Monday, Nov. 28: At 1:07 pm a deputy investigated a sex offender registry violation in the 600 block of S. 15th St in Grand Junction. At 1:21 pm a deputy assisted with cattle out on J Ave near 237th St in Jackson Township.
Sunday, Nov. 27: At 6:20 pm a deputy investigated a child custody complaint in the 1100 block of Eaton Ave north of Scranton.
Saturday, Nov. 26: At 1:24 am a deputy conducted a traffic stop on Highway 4 near 210th St north of Jefferson. Two individuals were found in possession of suspected marijuana, methamphetamines, and drug paraphernalia. Charges are pending lab results.
Friday, Nov. 25: At 10:21 am a deputy investigated a complaint of manure on the roadway near 305th and Highway 4 in Franklin Township. At 9:21 pm a deputy investigated a car-deer accident on Highway 30 near R Ave east of Jefferson. Jeffrey Miller, 58, of Roland struck a deer with a 2021 Suburu Outback, causing an estimated $3,000 damage to the vehicle. At 9:53 pm a deputy investigated a complaint of harassment in the 800 block of E. Main St in Grand Junction.
Thursday, Nov. 24: At 11:27 am a deputy investigated a domestic assault in the 1600 block of Newberry Ave south of Jefferson.
Wednesday, Nov. 23: At 1:04 pm a deputy removed a deer from the roadway on 237th St and Kirkwood Ave west of Jefferson. At 3:03 pm a deputy investigated a hunting complaint on the bike trail near Cooper. At 4:51 pm a deputy investigated a complaint of a person acting as an officer trying to pull over someone on Highway 144 near Highway 30 at Grand Junction. At 5:56 pm the sheriff and a deputy investigated a single vehicle accident on Highway 30 near Orchard Ave at Buttrick Creek east of Jefferson. Christopher Brown, 38, of Nebraska struck the bridge and guard rail. Brown was cited for failure to maintain control and failure to have a valid commercial driver’s license. Damage to the 2019 International box truck was estimated $15,000. Damage to the guard rail was estimated at $1,000.
Tuesday, Nov. 22: At 5:57 am a deputy investigated a car-deer accident on R Avenue near 290th St in Franklin Township. William Davis, 24, of Jamaica struck a deer with a 2011 Ford F150, causing an estimated $1,500 damage to the vehicle. At 5:24 pm a deputy investigated a domestic assault in the 800 block of Percival St in Grand Junction.
Monday, Nov. 21: At 9:27 am a deputy investigated a complaint of a train blocking the tracks on Parkland Ave. At 2:46 pm a deputy, Churdan fire, and Paton fire department responded to a structure fire in the 1400 block of 120th St in Dawson Township. The cause of the fire was a brush pile that was started on fire by a contractor. A corn crib and an old hog confinement building were a total loss. At 5:30 pm a deputy investigated a complaint of animal neglect in the 800 block of Jay St in Churdan. At 9:44 pm a deputy assisted with cattle out on A Ave and 170th St in Kendrick Township.

Saturday, Nov. 19: At 5:46 am the sheriff, a deputy, Greene County Ambulance, Jefferson fire department and the Jefferson police department responded to a single vehicle accident on Grimmell Rd near Russell St. Mason Happe, 18, of Jefferson struck the northeast end of the bridge with a 2007 Chevolet Silverado. The vehicle was totaled in the accident. At 12:48 pm the Greene County sheriff’s office conducted a search warrant in Churdan in conjunction with an underage beer party that is suspected in leading to the accident on Grimmell Road in Jefferson. Alcoholic beverage containers, stolen street signs, a fake identification card, and tobacco products were seized. Charges are pending. At 1 pm a deputy investigated a complaint of exploitation in the 200 block of W. Main St in Grand Junction. At 4:36 pm a deputy investigated a two-vehicle accident on Highway 30 near 222nd St east of Grand Junction. Dalton Ostrander, 19, of Jefferson was eastbound on 222nd St driving a 2007 Chevrolet Silverado. Samantha Knosp, 56, of Grand Junction was stopped in front of Ostrander driving her 2010 Ford Fusion at the intersection of 222nd and Highway 30. Ostrander struck the rear of Knosp’s vehicle, causing an estimated $700 in damage. There was no visible damage to Ostrander’s pickup truck. Ostrander was cited for a registration violation and following too closely. At 8:02 pm a deputy investigated a driving complaint on Highway 30 near S Ave west of Grand Junction. Daniel Strum, 42, of Carroll was arrested for operating while intoxicated*. At 11:09 pm a deputy assisted the Jefferson PD with a domestic assault in the 800 block of W. State St. At 11:09 pm a deputy assisted the Jefferson PD with the arrest of Tearra Hall, 24, of Waterloo for operating while intoxicated*.

Thursday, Nov. 17: At 6:37 am a deputy investigated an abandoned vehicle on Highway 144 near 215th St north of Grand Junction. At 5:25 pm a deputy assisted a motorist whose vehicle slid into the ditch on Highway 30 near T Ave east of Jefferson.
Wednesday, Nov. 17: At 8:43 am a deputy investigated a single-vehicle accident on S Avenue near 130th St in Dawson Township. Jeremy Kennedy, 41, of Grand Junction lost control of a 2004 Ford F250, entering the ditch. The vehicle had significant damage. No one was injured in the accident. At 9:48 am the sheriff, deputies, and Grand Junction fire and rescue responded to a two-vehicle accident on Highway 30 on the overpass near Grand Junction. Sameh Gerges, 40, of Waukee was eastbound and lost control of a 2008 Ford Econoline van, striking the bridge sides. The estimated damage to the van is $10,000. Gerges was cited for failure to maintain control. Johnathon Sprague, 19, of Jefferson was driving a 2003 Freightliner with a grain trailer, also eastbound. When the van came to rest in his lane he took evasive action; he also struck the concrete barrier but avoided the van. The estimated damage to the semi-tractor is $15,000. There were no injuries in the accident.
Tuesday, Nov. 15: At 3:58 am a deputy investigated a truck in the ditch on Highway 30 near J Ave west of Jefferson. The driver of the vehicle was not present. At 7:09 am a deputy assisted a motorist who lost control of their vehicle and went into the ditch on Highway 4 and 140th St east of Churdan. At 9:23 am a deputy investigated a backing accident at 9th and Main Sts in Grand Junction. Brian Rothe, 26, of Jamaica was driving a 2015 Kenworth with a grain trailer. He backed up from the intersection, striking a 2014 Ford Fusion that was driven by a juvenile. Rothe was cited for unsafe backing. The estimated damage to the Ford Fusion is $500. At 4:26 pm a deputy investigated an assault in the 400 block of Sand St in Churdan. At 6:06 pm a deputy investigated a single-vehicle accident on Highway 30 near Orchard east of Jefferson. Francois Ferriera, 32, of Grand Junction was westbound on Highway 30 and lost control of a 2000 Chevrolet Silverado on the bridge. The truck had an estimated $900 damage after hitting the guard rail. The guard rail was no damaged. At 6:45 pm the sheriff, a deputy, and Grand Junction fire and fescue responded to a reported accident on the overpass near Grand Junction on Highway 30. The vehicles had left the scene before anybody arrived. At 7:05 pm a deputy investigated an assault in the 500 block of State St in Scranton. At 8:46 pm a deputy investigated a domestic assault in the 1100 block of Lincoln St in Scranton. Darren Lehrkamp, 30, of Scranton was arrested for domestic abuse assault- second offense, assault, and interference with official acts*. At 9:37 pm a deputy investigated a complaint of criminal mischief cin the 800 block of E. Percival St in Grand Junction.
Monday, Nov. 14: At 10:48 am a deputy investigated a violation of a no contact order violation in Rippey. At 6:37 pm a deputy conducted a traffic stop on Highway 30 at D Ave west of Scranton. Dausin Olberding, 19, of Manson was arrested for driving while license barred*.
Sunday, Nov. 13: At 1:28 am a deputy conducted a traffic stop on Highway 30 near Highway 25 at Scranton. Trent Leners, 25, of Lake City was arrested for operating a motor vehicle while intoxicated- first offense*.
Saturday, Nov. 12: At 10:24 am a deputy and Jefferson fire responded to a vehicle fire on 240th St near J Ave in Jackson Township. The 1995 Ford F250 was a total loss. The cause of the fire is unknown. At 10:44 am a deputy investigated a car-deer accident on Highway 144 near 170th St in Paton Township. Jacob Terrell, 26, of Gowrie struck a deer with a 2016 Ford F150, causing an estimated $4,000 in damage to the vehicle. At 5:34 pm a deputy investigated a criminal mischief complaint at the Grand Junction city dump.
Friday, Nov. 11: At 7:55 am the sheriff, a deputy, Greene County Ambulance, and Grand Junction fire and rescue responded to a single-vehicle accident on 305th St near Terrace Ave in Washington Township. Marilyn Bryant, 63, of Perry lost control of her 2005 Ford Escape, entering the north ditch and striking a fence and an embankment. The driver was taken to the Greene County Medical Center by Greene County Ambulance with injuries. The vehicle was a total loss. At 10:31 am a deputy and an Iowa State Patrolman investigated a complaint of trespass in the 1400 block of Highway 144 at Grand Junction. James Harris, 35, of Woodward was found on the property and was arrested for warrants for driving while license barred and operating a motor vehicle without owner’s consent*. At 5:12 pm a deputy and Grand Junction Fire responded to a trailer house fire in the 800 block of Percival St in Grand Junction. The fire was caused by a burn barrel that was too close to the structure. There was minor damage to the structure. At 6:35 pm a deputy investigated a complaint of harassment in the 800 block of N. 11th St in Grand Junction.
Thursday, Nov. 10: At 4:55 pm a deputy investigated a complaint of trespass in the 800 block of C Ave in Scranton Township. At 8:36 pm Shanda Ellingson, 39, of Muscatine was booked into the jail on Greene County arrest warrants for violation of a no contact order, sexual abuse- continuous sexual abuse of a child, sex abuse- third degree, child victim coerced by person in authority- first offense, enticing a minor under 16 for sexual purposes, willful injury causing serious injury, domestic abuse assault display or use of a weapon, and possession of a controlled substance*. At 10:22 pm Benjamin Ellingson, 37, of Muscatine was booked into the jail on Greene County arrest warrants for sex abuse third degree – child victim member of same household second offense, sexual abuse- continuous sexual abuse of a child, lascivious acts with a child, sexual exploitation of a minor, enticing a minor under 16 for sexual purpose, violation of a no contact order, sex offender registration violation, prostitution, possession of drug paraphernalia, and domestic abuse assault*.
Wednesday, Nov. 9: At 9:59 am a deputy investigated a two-vehicle accident in the Louis Dreyfus Commodities parking lot. Daniel Arndt, 65, of West Des Moines was driving a 2020 Freightliner and rear ended a 1986 Frieghtliner with trailer operating by Corey Wessels, 43, of Madrid. Damage to Arndt’s semi-tractor was estimated at $700. Damage to Wessels’ trailer was estimated at $800. At 8:40 pm a deputy investigated a car-deer accident on Highway 30 and L Ave west of Jefferson. Richard Green, 64, of Alaska struck a deer with a 2019 Chevrolet Silverado, causing an estimated $25,000 damage to the pickup.
Tuesday, Nov. 8: At 5:35 am a deputy removed a deer from the roadway on Highway 30 near Highway 144 at Grand Junction. At 6:07 pm a deputy investigated a car-deer accident on Highway 30 near Oakland Ave east of Jefferson. Billie Johnson-Daves, 55, of Jefferson struck a deer with a 2014 Dodge Charger, causing an estimated $10,000 damage to the vehicle. At 7:15 pm a deputy assisted the Jefferson police department with locating the source of large explosion. The source was a cannon in the 1200 block of S. Grimmell Rd.
Monday, Nov. 7: At 12:03 am a deputy investigated a car-deer accident on D Avenue near 177th St in Kendrick Township. Cynthia Hatting, 55, of Glidden struck a deer with a 2010 Chevrolet Impala, causing an estimated $1,000 damage to the vehicle. At 4:43 pm a deputy assisted an Iowa State Patrolman with an arrest on W Ave near Highway 30 at Grand Junction. A suspected undocumented immigrant who provided a false identification card was arrested for providing false identification and driving while denied or revoked. At 6:11 pm the sheriff, a deputy, an Iowa State Patrolman, Paton fire department, Grand Junction fire and rescue, and Greene County Ambulance responded to a two-vehicle accident on X Avenue and 130th St in Paton Township. Abel Rodriquez, 46, of Des Moines was southbound on X Ave driving a 1999 Chevrolet 1500. He and stopped at the stop sign at 130th St but pulled into the intersection into the path of Craig Roberts, 63, of Jefferson who was westbound on 130th St, driving a 2016 Toyota AV. Roberts’ vehicle struck the driver’s side of Rodriquez’s vehicle. Airbags deployed in both vehicles, and both were totaled. A passenger in Rogriquez’s vehicle was transported to Greene County Medical Center by Grand Junction Rescue with possible injuries. Roberts was transported to the medical center by Greene County Ambulance with minor injuries. Rodriquez was cited for failure to yield right of way. At 6:20 pm a deputy investigated a complaint of harassment in the 600 block of State St in Scranton.
Sunday, Nov. 6: At 11:29 pm a deputy removed a deer from the roadway on Highway 30 near J Ave west of Jefferson.
Saturday, Nov. 5: At 3:15 pm a deputy assisted with a cow out on 280th St and Highway 4 in Franklin Township. At 6:10 pm a deputy assisted with a cow out on 235th St near Quint Ave east of Jefferson. At 8:03 pm a deputy investigated a domestic assault in the 2000 block of 190th St in Junction Township. David Lansman, 54, of Grand Junction was arrested for assault causing bodily injury*. At 8:21 pm a deputy tried to catch a dog running at large on 210th St near 220th St west of Scranton.
Friday, Nov. 4: At 8:37 am a deputy assisted with removing an animal from the roadway in the 1400 block of J Ave in Jackson Township. At 10:17 am a deputy investigated a fire in the 2400 block of 290th St in Washington Township. The fire was an un-reported controlled burn. At 6:52 pm a deputy assisted a motorist at McMahon river access who ran out of gas. At 8:08 pm a deputy investigated a car-deer accident on 235th Street and Q Ave east of Jefferson. Zachary Danner, 24, of Grand Junction struck a deer with a 2005 Chevrolet Silverado, causing an estimated $2,500 in damage to the truck.
Thursday, Nov. 3: At 3:16 pm a deputy investigated a complaint of theft in the 500 block of 14th St in Grand Junction. At 7:46 pm a deputy investigated a dog bite in the 500 block of E. Main St in Grand Junction.
Wednesday, Nov. 2: At 2:09 pm a deputy investigated a complaint of criminal mischief in the 300 block of Madison St in Scranton. At 3:32 pm a deputy and the Jefferson fire department responded to a brush fire in the 1400 block of 160th Street in Dawson Township. At 4:07 pm a deputy investigated a complaint of burning in the 500 block of Main St in Scranton. At 4:14 pm a deputy investigated a complaint of criminal mischief in the 2000 block of L Ave in Junction Township.
Tuesday, Nov. 1: At 6:12 am a deputy investigated a car-deer accident on Highway 144 near 130th St east of Paton. The driver left the scene of the accident before the deputy arrived. At 10:07 am a deputy and Scranton Fire responded to a fire in the 500 block of State St. There was minimal damage to flower pot that a cigarette was discarded in and started the fire. 6:21 pm a deputy removed a deer from the roadway on Highway 30 near J Ave west of Jefferson. At 8:46 pm a deputy investigated a complaint of harassment in the 300 block of Hendricks St in Rippey.
