Max Johnson, 1940 – 2022

Graveside services for Max Johnson, 82, of Dana, will be held Nov. 22 at the Paton Township Cemetery, Paton.

Max Johnson of Dana, son of Lee and Velma (Graue) Johnson, passed away Nov. 17, 2022.  Max was born at Jefferson Aug. 3, 1940.  He lived on the same farm near Dana all his life, except for the last few months.

Max enjoyed farming along with raising his Black Angus cattle. He had his first Black Angus cow in 1950. He had several pet Black Angus bulls over the years. They each had their own names.  Max enjoyed feeding them corn in the pasture from his 4-wheeler.  He enjoyed going from farm to farm on his 4-wheeler, checking the crops, especially when the sweet corn was ready.  Max always had a garden and loved to watch things grow; and then he gave most of the produce away. He had fruit trees and loved to give away the apples, peaches and pears.

Max was involved in a special line of the insurance business for many years.  He insured live poultry (turkey and chicken flocks) and the buildings in which they were raised throughout many states.

Max has no immediate survivors. He wants to give special thanks to Doug and Dustin Fouch, his farming partners for many years, for all their help.
