Greene County veteran services director Mike Bierl reminds veterans of these Veterans Day observances:
1) Greene County High School hosting a breakfast on November 9thbecause of students’ trimester testing Nov. 11.
Breakfast will be served for veterans from 7:30 am until 8:15am in the Ram Restaurant at the north entrance to the school. Veterans will go to the auditorium at about 8, with the program starting at about 8:15 and the movie Greyhound with Tom Hanks (Navy Movie) will be played in the auditorium after the high school program.
2) Hy-Vee hosting a breakfast Nov. 11 from 6 to 11 am at the Greene County Community Center in Jefferson. HyVee is also offering a 15 percent discount on groceries that day
3) Paton-Churdan High School is hosting a Veterans Day program at 9 am on Veterans Day.
4) Mike Bierl will be the American Legion speaker at two nursing home visits on Nov. 11, scheduled at 1:30 pm at the Regency Park Nursing Home and at 2:15 pm at The Gardens.
5) Operation Green Light will be in effect Nov. 7-13. Area buildings and homes are asked to use green lights at their places to recognize and honor veterans for their service and sacrifices to our country.
6) Bett and Bev’s will have free lunch provided by the Home State Bank from 11 am to 2 pm on Veterans Day
