Greene County RSVP 55+ Volunteer Program is holding its 14th annual Lots of Socks & More drive Oct. 30 through Nov. 20.
Clothing a child/youth today can be expensive, especially for families with a limited budget. So,RSVP Volunteer Program invites Greene County residents to make a difference in the life of a child and/or youth by donating to this year’s Lots of Socks & More Drive.
Donation baskets will be placed in libraries, participating business and churches throughout Jefferson, Rippey, Scranton, Grand Junction, Paton and Churdan. Look for the Lots of Socks & More laundry baskets and signs.
Lots of Socks & More aims to collect socks and underwear for Kindergarten, elementary and middle school children in the county. Last year this project netted more than 1,300 items which were distributed by the New Opportunities’ Family Development Center. Families who participate in the winter outerwear distribution and/or the Christmas food basket distribution will receive Lots of Socks & More items. Items will also be provided to the Greene County Schools and the Paton-Churdan School to give out as needed.
Anyone who would prefer to donate monetarily can do so by mailing a check payable to RSVP Volunteer Program Lots of Socks PO Box 104, Jefferson, IA 50129. Funds received will be used to purchase items in the sizes needed for distribution.
