Rams run at S. Central Calhoun meet, have three medalists

The Greene County cross country teams competed in the South Central Calhoun Cross Country Invitational Tuesday in Lake City.

The boys placed fifth of 13 teams and had three top-25 finishers, each of whom received a medal.

The girls placed ninth of 12 teams. Lead runner Olivia Shannon was just four places out of medaling.

“This was another good meet for all of our runners,” coach Jeff Lamoureux said. “Noah Hinote led the way for the boys with an 11th place finish against some good competition. I am pleased with the team’s progression and proud of how they compete.”

Hinote ran the race in 18:27.84. Other Ram medalists were Gavyn Winters, placing 20th with a time of 19:20.65, and Ethan Frederick in 23rd place in 19:26.71.  Other Ram finishes and times were Kolby Angell, 40th, 20:23.06; Carter Hinote, 48th, 20:54.59; and Mylo Taute, 59th 21:54.74.

Team scores in the boys race were Ogden 63, Denison-Schleswig 88, East Sac County 94, Sioux Central 136, Greene County 142, Southeast Valley 162, Manson NW Webster 174, Ridge View 194, South Central Calhoun 213, Alta/Aurelia 215, Woodward Academy 224, OABCIG 319, and Newell-Fonda 347.

Shannon finished the girls race in 29th place with a time of 24:13.88. Other Ram finishes were Autumn Stevens, 39th, 25:18.54; Ava Minnehan, 44th, 26:11.07; Ava Jablonski, 64th, 28:43.27; and Leah McCormick, 70th, 30:56.82.

Team scores in the girls race were Alta/Aurelia 80, Pocahontas Area 90, Denison-Schleswig 92, Ogden 109, Manson NW Webster 121, South Central Calhoun 125, Sioux Central 136, Ridge View 160, Greene Cunty 232, Newell-Fonda 242, OABCIG 266, and Southeast Valley 306.
