The Greene County volleyball team picked up two wins after five matches last week, four games being part of a Saturday tournament.

On Tuesday, Greene County traveled to West Marshall High School, falling after five close sets. The Rams lost the first set 27-25, came back to win the second and third 25-23 and 30-28, but fell in the final two sets 25-18 and 16-14.

“A tough one to give up. We fought hard for five straight sets all the way to the final point. No other explanation other than we just fell short,” commented coach Chris Heisterkamp. “Experiences like that make us stronger, so we can still benefit a great deal from the match.”

Bella Schroeder led the team in kills with 20, while Kaylee Stalder had 13, Emma Shipley with nine and Emma Ewalt with five. Katrina Heupel had 14 digs, Alexa Peters had 11 and Graci Cooklin had eight. Natalie Heupel had 36 assists in the match.
