Charges have been filed against the driver in a fatal accident that occurred Dec. 15, 2020, in Grand Junction.
Robert Aaron Kinnick, 74, of Coon Rapids has been charged with leaving the scene of a fatal accident, a Class D felony. The Iowa State Patrol filed the charge Jan. 13, 2022; the warrant was served Sept. 19.
According to an affidavit filed by the ISP, Kinnick was northbound on N. 16th St when he struck Travis Fincel, who was walking north on the east side of the street. Kinnick left the scene and was later found at Casey’s in Grand Junction. Fincel was taken to Iowa Methodist Medical Center in Des Moines and died Jan. 7, 2021, as a result of the injuries he sustained in the accident.
The affidavit states that Kinnick admitted to knowing he struck a pedestrian and left the scene without notifying authorities of the crash or his location.
