In Greene County district court Jason Edward Trotter, 49, of Perry was sentenced Sept. 12 to prison after changing his plea to guilty to charges of criminal mischief- first degree, theft- second degree, and possession of methamphetamine- third or subsequent offense. On the criminal mischief charge Trotter was sentenced to 10 years in prison. He was fined $1,370 with a $205.50 surcharge; the fine and surcharge were suspended. He is jointly and severally liable with two co-defendants for $2,000 victim restitution. He was sentenced to five years in prison on the theft charge. He was fined $1,025 with a $153.75 surcharge; the fine and surcharge were suspended. Trotter was sentenced to five years in prison on the methamphetamine charge, and fined $1,025 with a $153.75 surcharge. The fine and surcharge were suspended. The prison terms are concurrent. Persons pleaded not guilty to charges as follows: Michael John Downey, 38, of Carroll, operating while intoxicated and possess or carry dangerous weapon while under the influence; Cindy Lou Muennich, 55, of National City, CA, OWI- second offense and possession of marijuana; and Kaleb Lee Lentz, 28, of Scranton, sex abuse- third degree. Trial dates were set for Nov. 1 for Downey and Muennich, and for Dec. 5 for Lentz.
Information is available since the return of an arrest warrant that Robert E. Barnard Jr, 56, of Des Moines is charged with dominion/control of firearm/offensive weapon by felon and possession of marijuana. The warrant was issued 1/27 and returned 9/12.
