While the ballot for most of the Nov. 8 general election was set by the results of the primary election in June, there are still three non-partisan entities that will elect members to their boards.
Nomination papers for positions on the board of trustees of the Greene County Medical Center, soil and water conservation commission and Ag Extension council are due by Wednesday, Aug. 31, at 5 pm at the Greene County auditor’s office.
There are seven members on the medical center board with five members to be elected in November. The terms of Jim Schleisman, Bill Raney, Doug Carman, Katherine Neese and Angie Jewett expire.
Candidates must submit nomination papers with a minimum of 50 signatures. All five of the current members have submitted their nomination papers.
The terms of Andy Krieger and Bill Frederick on the soil and water conservation commission expire. Potential candidates must have a minimum of 25 signatures. Both have filed their paperwork with the auditor’s office.
The Ag Extension council terms of Kyle Niles, Pam Olerich, Bruce Bahnson, Jill Rasmussen and Jessi Riley expire this year. Niles, Rasmussen and Riley have stated they are not candidates for re-election.
Nomination papers for Olerich and Bahnson have been submitted. Also seeking election are Jeff Lamoureux and Tracy Deal. A fifth candidate is needed to complete the ballot.
There will also be township clerks and trustees on the November ballot.
Residents are reminded of voter registration laws. Persons who have not voted in a recent election or have moved need to check their voter registration. Contact the auditor’s office for details.
Anyone who wishes to request an absentee ballot to be mailed to them may do so beginning Aug. 30. The auditor’s office cannot mail the ballots until 20 days before the election, which is Wednesday, Oct. 19. This is also the first day that a voter can vote in person at the courthouse.
