Rotary holds school supply drive

The Rotary Club of Jefferson is part of the community-wide effort to provide children from financially challenged families with school supplies for the coming school year.

Rotarians recently delivered supplies and $170 in cash to New Opportunities in Jefferson. Teresa Lansman of New Opportunities anticipates up to 200 students will need help with school supplies before school starts Aug. 23.

Education and literacy is one of Rotary International’s seven Areas of Focus. “We’re happy to help provide local students what they need for school, and we wish them and their teachers a safe and productive school year,” said Jefferson Rotary Club president Susan Laehn.
