In Greene County district court Mark Henry Morrow, 61, of Carson was sentenced to 10 days in jail with credit for time served after he changed his plea to guilty to a charge of driving while license barred. He was fined $855 with a $128.25 surcharge; both were suspended. The court found him unable to pay restitution for his court appointed attorney’s fees or court costs. (Sentencing: Honorable Joseph B. Richard Dean Tuhn Jr, 43, of Grand Junction was sentenced Aug. 1 to a term not to exceed five years in prison after he changed his plea to one count of possession of firearm or ammunition by a domestic violence offender. Three other identical counts were dismissed. Tuhn was fined $1,025 with a $153.75 surcharge; both were suspended.
Tuhn was sentenced to six months in prison after he changed his plea to guilty to a charge of possession of marijuana. No judgment was entered for a fine or surcharge. Court costs were $180.
He was sentenced to two years in prison on a charge of domestic abuse assault- second offense. He was fined $855 with a $128.25 surcharge, both suspended, and a $90 domestic abuse surcharge. A charge of sex abuse- third degree was dismissed. He must pay $111.10 restitution for his court appointed attorney’s fees and $291.50 court costs.
All prison terms in the above cases against Tuhn are concurrent.
In another case against Tuhn a charge of unlawful possession of prescription drug was dismissed as part of a plea agreement. Court costs were $140. (Sentencing: Honorable Kurt J. Stoebe in all cases against Tuhn)
Michael Shane Miller, 51, of Jefferson was granted a deferred judgment after he changed his plea to guilty to a charge of conspiracy to manufacture/deliver marijuana not more than 50 kg. He was placed on probation for two years to Boone/Greene County Probation. He must undergo a substance abuse evaluation and complete any recommended treatment at his own expense. Oliver W. Peyton, 49, of Newark, NJ, was sentenced to seven days in jail with credit for time served after he changed his plea to guilty to a charge of assault causing bodily injury or mental illness. He was fined $430 with a $64.50 surcharge. Court costs were $100. Peyton was fined $105 with a $15.75 surcharge and $60 court costs in a magistrate case in which he was charged with disorderly conduct- fighting/violent behavior. Kyle Joynes Thomas 68, of Boone was sentenced to 180 days in jail after he changed his plea to guilty to a charge of operating while intoxicated- first offense. All but two days of the jail term were suspended and he was placed on probation for one year to Boone/Greene County Probation. He may complete the Des Moines Area Community College 48-hour alcohol education program. He must undergo a substance abuse evaluation and complete any recommended treatment at his own expense. He was fined $1,250 with a $187.50 surcharge; one-half will be waived if he obtains a temporary restricted license. Court costs were $100. (Sentencing: MCCarville)
A case against Clarence Steve Richardson, 35, of Hudson in which he was charged with possession of marijuana was dismissed. Court costs were $100 in that case. Per a plea agreement, Richardson was fined $105 with a $15.75 surcharge in a magistrate case in which he was charged with possession of drug paraphernalia. Court costs were $60 in that case. Persons pleaded not guilty as follows: Morgan Brooke Hughes Hernandez, 23, of Jefferson, possession of marijuana; Amanda Marie Meyer, 34, of Fort Dodge, OWI- first offense; Amy Talser, 42, of Grand Junction, domestic abuse assault causing injury or mental illness; and Matthew Lee Hurley, 41, of Jefferson, driving while license barred. Trials were set for Sept. 27 in every case.
Cases were initiated in district court as follows: Rodney Charles Sheffield, 35, of Scranton- theft- fourth degree; Blake Matthew Millard, 36, of Jefferson, assault causing bodily injury or mental illness, three counts; Alyssa Celeste Lombera, 26, of Jefferson, assault causing bodily injury or mental illness; Gwendolyn Kissel, 18, of Jefferson, possession of marijuana; and Steven Darwin Meister, 58, of Woodward, OWI- third offense.
